Artist Introduction

What’s your stage name and where are you from?

I’m Insomniac, and I’m from Sacramento, CA.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

I’ve struggled with insomnia for a while now. I also feel as though I create my best work at night, so it kind of works in my favor. Considering those two things, the choice was obvious.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I spent years as a kid in a local choir group, prior to that I didn’t really listen to much music. A few years later, I stumbled upon “Goosebumps” by Travis Scott, and everything from the vocals to the production reeled me in. Ever since then, I’ve been working hard to improve my skills, not only as an artist, but also as a producer.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

“Bounce”, the lead single on my upcoming album, “The Wake-Up Call” (available June 21st), was a 3 month long process. The hook came to me fairly quickly. The first half of the verse was written shortly after. However, I developed a slight case of writers block when it came to the second half of the verse. It took a few months of sitting on it, listening to the track over and over, until I finally struck inspiration. The rest is history!

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I want to inspire people to love one another, and to believe in themselves.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Mixing the entire album was a tricky process. I probably went into each project file a minimum of 200 times. I knew one of the flaws of my previous tracks was the volume of my vocals, so I made sure to pay close attention to that.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Purely for the production, I’d go with Ye.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I see it taking me to new opportunities and experiences I have yet to see.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

The next big step for me is getting my name out there, whether it be locally or through social media.
