Artist Spotlight: Marsiell

Artist Introduction

What’s your name and where are you from?
My stage name is Marsiell and I am from Indianapolis, Indiana
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My stage name is my biological middle name, I originally started out as DMC but in 2012 but ultimately decided against it as just using my actual name held more water.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
The journey is long as hell but its worth it. If you start out by only doing this for money then you won’t end up happy, it’ll just clear up any temporary need you were seeking. Music is and will always something that will continue to bring us all together, I have worked overtime on this journey to fill a room of people who want to hear good music and just let go of lifes problems and enjoy the energy.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Love 4 Self was 100% created in my garage, I usually drive around town and tunes/melodies/lines just pop up in my head and I jot them down on my notes. I heard the beat for Love 4 Self and went to a local community park and meditated and wrote the lyrics at home in my garage.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
The moon and the sun both shine at different times, they do not need to compete and yet they are both felt, I used to compare myself constantly to my peers and idols which didn’t result in me making records from my own doing and thoughts it was more me trying to counter and recreate what they did but my message ultimately is to love yourself, speak from the heart and with conviction, understand your listener and watch what you say and yet do not care about opinions if you are solidified in your own beliefs.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
You will have friends, family, acquaintances that will either throw shade, overlook you, silent support and just not support you at all, speaking from experience, it can shatter your confidence because you just came up with what you believe is a good piece of art and you don’t have anyone close to you to share it with, instead they share opinions on more established artist, overcoming that was the biggest challenge.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Masego because I have never heard an artist who sounds like they music so effortless yet are extremely smooth

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Look If I can have a tiny desk, an intimate room of 200 true fans on a rooftop and sell some merch, I feel I have made it, Rolling Loud would be nice too lol.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The Next Big Step as an artist is to push more visuals out
