What a crazy and unexpected collaboration. Early 2026, Khalid hit me and my team up asking if we would be down for a studio session… is that even a question???
I originally prepped a more melodic driven song for the session. Khalid came in, I showed him the song I had been working on and asked if he’d be down to try to top line it. After a couple minutes of some melodies, he looks at me and goes, “let’s go from scratch”. Oh boy, time to put on your big boy pants murph.
I started playing some darker chords, and the energy in the room immediately shifted, and this track was born.
A couple months later, we debuted the song at Red Rocks with Khalid surprising everyone with a guest appearance. The rest is history…
It was really refreshing working with Khalid. Someone who has done it all and has all the accolades, yet he still is focused on making music for the love of the music itself, not for some end goal in mind. Couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator and friend.
