Artist Introduction
What’s your name and where are you from?
AWOL Da Mindwriter. Born and raised in Long Island, NY or what I like to call “The Lost Borough”
What’s the story behind your stage name?
The story is a bit crazy, literally lmao. I’m relatively known for being uber hyperactive since childhood. My single “Screaming Down The Block” from my latest project with my producer cohort, JHershey will advocate a bit on where the name came from. It used to be (Always Outta Line), known for my wild antics, rebellious attitude and animated demeanor. After writing my first song, it was then changed to (Aggressive Writer Outta Line), and remained since.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Adventurous, Spontaneous, Challenging
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I have a lot of those. The last experience I had was dope. Knocked out a handful of tracks, but only to find out that I had missed yet another rematch of *Tekken* with my longtime friend, producer and engineer, StrongHold of Space Age Entertainment, based out of Queens. Eh….I’ll get him one of these days……tsk tsk tsk.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Simple. Enjoy life. Many lessons to be learned, even through the smallest things. Appreciate God most of all, because without him, there’s not a me, or a YOU! To stand up what you believe in, even if doubted at first, and stand up for yourself. There’s many of issues in the World, the change starts within ourselves first.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
This is my favorite story. For the song “Say It Loud” on the SEGA-AM2 (Part II) album, I had literally one day wrote the song, and the following day deleted it accidentally. I had tried so many common solutions, but none prevailed. The day after, I sat really hard and thought word for word what I had written, and within less than 30 mins I rewrote the whole song verbatim. I still harbor that to my heart, “phew”.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
There’s so many….Roc Marciano, Action Bronson, Smif n Wessun, Boldy James, Planet Asia, The Cool Kids, Vic Spenser, But if I could if anything, I’d do records with De La Soul. Even DJ Muggz, Jay Electronica, Wordsworth, The Bad Seed, Madlib….so many man….. oh….and
Rockness Monsta, mainly him because before I was a fan of Sean Price (RIP) I was a heavy fan of his wordplay. I would say Griselda artists, but I’m sure that was expectexd
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
To heights unseen to the regular. In Video Games, movies, TV….maybe even see me behind the scenes of filming. Who Knows?!?! But in short….To the Next Level!
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
To evolve as a human, to expand as an artist. To become a household name not just in Hip-Hop, but to be a legend in my own right. Expand my business with my partner and continue to make people happy audibly. Maybe finally get the chance to work with SEGA, possibly being endorsed by NOS Energy Drink or involving myself in other forms of art and creativity.
