Artist Introduction

What’s your stage name and where are you from?

My stage name is Bloody Immigrants, although I’ve also released music under different monikers. My origin is French Ghanaian.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

An ironic ode to a common British phrase and a nod to my nomadic origins.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Started with a love for pattern matching embodied in my obsession with complex and witty rhyme schemes. Followed by a deep and emotional connection to interesting and nuanced chord progressions/melodies. The drums are in my genes.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

I really hate the opening line to the last (unreleased) song I recorded, but the vocal take is so perfect, I just don’t want to re-record it as I don’t think I’ll be able to catch that pocket again. Still undecided if I release it as is, but the reaction to Cole’s “strictly dicky” line on Grippy is giving me second thoughts.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

In a weird way, sadness can be incredibly beautiful if expressed well.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Trying to control and be hands-on with too much. Now A.I. helps.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Slakah the Beatchild or James Blake. Slakah made some of my favorite ever Drake songs that no one really pays attention to, and both he and JB are able to tap into another dimension for interesting and touching chord progressions.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I honestly never plan music that far ahead. Although I do want to spend a solid bit of time in the woods doing nothing but making music and focusing more on production.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Being consistent.
