What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Samad Savage, Montclair

What’s the story behind your stage name?

Well my name is my name and the second half is about the second half of me, the monster inside all of us we fight everyday.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I started off producing around eight years old, but I was so amateur that nobody would rap on my beats so I started writing around 10 years old. I recorded my first song at 14 and released my first mixtape at 17 but I would say my music career really started in 2018 when I dropped my first project, “The Grey Area”. Since then I’ve won awards, performed in front of thousands and got cosigns from legends like Eminem, Redman and Naughty By Nature.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

I literally only recorded this song because I felt like I needed an anthem that stadiums could sing. Something that would motivate a player on a sports team before he goes out to the field or simply motivate somebody to add more weight until the next set in their workout.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I often convey a message of self improvement, self reflection and self love.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Just like anybody else I struggle for mental health issues that sometimes getting away of my creative process, so every day that I do something I consider it a small one for myself. Just to keep doing it after so long and be better each time is enough for me.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Definitely Stevie Wonder, I have a song that I recorded that’s completely in dedication to him but I’m just waiting for the right time to drop it because that’s how much he means to me as an artist. Truly the greatest of all time if you ask me.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I definitely see my music ending up in commercials and movies, possibly even more video games.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

I just wanna continue to grow an audience that cares about the things that I care about, people who just want better for the world.
