“Summer Rain” ft. Mekfly by Paulo and the Problems

Under Fogwood Records, band Paulo and the Problems is gradually establishing their music by blending retro R&B with different genres. Paulo, the main member of the group from New Jersey, has merged hip‑hop, funk, rock, and classic soul into his music. Suffering a serious injury at a young age influenced his style, and being under Fogwood Records allowed him to develop songs that mix his background with his love for trying new things.

The band’s new album, Stupid Sexy Paulo, is out on July 11, 2025. First, the lead single from the album came out, called “First of the Month” (feat. Saynave, which was released on May 1, started the campaign with colorful animation including the band’s beloved mascot, Nico. On May 28, 2025, “Summer Rain” ft. Mekfly came out as the second release, a calming vocal that portrays evening charms and short-lived romance.

Mekfly contributes his special touch, warm vocals, and impressive singing skills to the track. They have been working with Fogwood for a long time, their connection stands out, and they both worked on three tracks and were doing so on a different project as well. “Summer Rain” brings the two singers together, making the song more beautiful and confident.

Paulo shows that “Summer Rain” is related to their first music, but goes further into sharing strong emotions and feeling. The official documentation (as confirmed by other write-ups) refers to Girl as a “moving song about memories and worrying about past relationships,” with influences from old R&B and modern jazz.

Lazy percussion, strong bass, soft electric guitar riffs, gentle pads, and smooth vocals from Mekfly outline the music of this track. The review points out that ‘Don’t Leave’ brings in funk, hip hop, R&B, and rock sound, and the guitars are given greater focus in the song than on the rest of the album. It is mentioned by Plastic Magazine that the track has a glorious retro feeling, which brings in a smooth and repeatable “ever-present shuffling groove.”

During the same interview, Paulo talked about how avoiding complex lines made room for the rich sound of the guitar in his rock style. The result? A song that has a soft feel, with melancholic moments combined with a sweet tune.

Nico, the animated mascot, is part of “Summer Rain” and this video fits into the band’s animated world. The story began in “First of the Month” and keeps playing a main role. Animation makes the track more emotional and helps cover the whole range of the actor’s childhood.

With the help of Mekfly, Paulo and the Problems present an even-paced album that is easy to love. With 8 points for originality, it tells an animated story from the perspective of R&B using distinctive guitar tones in an already crowded group. The lyrics have a score of 7 since they rely on basic themes of falling in love and deep thought; however, the artist’s emotional singing gives the lyrics a sense of honesty. Sonic aspects score an impressive number, since the mix sounds warm, is well-mixed, and plenty of work has been done to smooth the final product, yet enough ‘rough edges’ remain to add charm to the album. Hopefully the album has the same energy, feeling, and musical collaboration as the others while keeping things simple and powerful. Overall, Message receives an 8: the writer brilliantly captures romance and thoughts as a meaningful snapshot through skilful language.

The song “Summer Rain” reflects the strength of all members working together. Originality is the main reason the track gets an 8 out of 10. The song mixes various styles and pushes creative limits by adding guitars that alter the mood from R&B to something slightly rocker. With Mekfly’s voice, the song gets its 7 out of 10 in Lyrical Content, since the words are honest and touch us even if we’ve personally never gone through such a romance. The 7/10 Production Quality takes a lot of effort: the music is well-mixed, lively, yet close, and tastes wonderful when played on headphones. Both Paulo and Mekfly deliver the lyrics in a calm and flexible way, matching the mood of the whole piece, which stays in your memory.

“Summer Rain” adds to the success of Stupid Sexy Paulos and mixes nostalgic melody with ambitious music. Paulo and Mekfly polish a track that keeps things clear and simple, but still delivers a lot of emotions. It does not shout out loud; instead, it gently brings people to an evening-like mood. The arrival of the album and the saga’s storyline make “Summer Rain” a major landmark in Paulo’s career.

Looking to the future, it would be possible to include more instruments, either by playing longer guitar solos or blending in some soft brass or flute notes to add more emotion. Even though the story in the videos unites the album’s artwork, sharing those stories live with fans could make them feel even closer to the music. By adding more details to the lyrics, the emotions in the song would be easier to relate to since they come from the artist’s own life.
