What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Keulitt from Nigeria

What’s the story behind your stage name?

Keulitt has had an evolving meaning, first a word play I coined in highschool for ‘kill it’ and ‘queue lit’ which connotes my aggression to murder any beat, consistently. Now it has just become an identity of pure confidence and artistry.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I would say I have a very alt/avant garde approach to music because I believe in the freedom of conceptualization as a form of art.

As an independent artist, navigating the world of professional release has been tricky, especially when the goal is share my art to all of the world, the amount of campaigns to pair these days can be quite distracting.

There’s also been a lot character building the more songs I write, more clarity, more inspiration. I appreciate the mental awareness making music gives me.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Creating songs and mixing beats with an iPhone x is all the interesting anybody could want. My PC broke at the same time I felt ready to record and release music, at also the same time I was not letting anything stop me.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Simple. Redirection.
Theres a lot of things to worry about that we don’t, as humans collectively. I want to highlight that through poetry.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

I took ‘use what you have to get what you want’ a little too literally.
Inspired by the raw production style of St Vincent and JpegMafia, every production flaw turned out to be a sound defining advantage. While some engineers might disagree, I believe the combined performance portrays an emotion and experience unseen, and authenticity has always been a big for me.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

ASAP Rocky. I love his instrumentation and style especially in his recent works.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

The Grammys

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

To put out more music and build a foundation in the ever growing industry. Love love.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?

all streaming platforms
