Artist Introduction

What’s your stage name and where are you from?

I’m Alexis Lace, and I am in London, UK, although I originally grew up in South Western France.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

Alexis is actually one of my middle names, and has always been my preferred name. As for Lace, it’s kind of short for my real surname, which I decided not to use as it is already taken by a massive high street brand… Anyway my real full name is Marina Alexis Beverly Lacoste.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I started writing songs at the age of 12. I then had a break in my early twenties and I turned to acting instead, but the pandemic put a stop to that dream for a while. And this is how I made the decision to get back into music.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

To be honest, this one went pretty smoothly, but I guess how I got the idea for the lyrics is the most unusual part. I was walking down Victoria Street, which is the first place I visited when I first came to London at the age of 12 or 13, and it was like 5 in the morning, so it was lonely and quiet, and it gave me plenty of room to think and reminisce, and to feel sad about the fact I am now estranged with the family member that was with me that day.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I just make a point of always being honest, writing from the heart, and I always hope someone, somewhere, will connect with my lyrics through their own lived experiences.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

I had plenty of ideas when it came to make the choruses fluffier and fluffier as the song went on. I simply experimented with all off them and kept what I liked. Pretty standard I guess.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I would love to be featured on the League of Legends soundtrack!!!!

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

Hopefully somewhere good! But I don’t make plans. You can’t plan these things. I just go with the flow.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

I would say gigging more, but I’m a homebody, and I find the idea of gigging a lot rather unpleasant. Right now I am mainly focusing on finishing my next album.

Additional Opportunities

We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?

Absolutely!

Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?

I always have an open mind! Whether it be live music, podcasts, collab, social media work… If it looks good, I’m in!
