What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Eonelly, and I’m from Zimbabwe in Africa.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My name is Eonell (pronounced Yonell). I decided to add the “y” to make it Eonelly.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
SMARTPHONE RAPPER: I didn’t wait for professional tools. I took my phone and made it a booth.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While making the track Let It Flow, I thought I was already done and was in the process of uploading. Then an ad came up with police cars and sirens going off. The sound of the sirens hit me hard, and I literally stopped the upload, remade the beat, and added police sirens, which turned out to be the track’s winning point.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
In a world of darkness, trust in Jesus, and His light will see you through. Also, you don’t need professional tools to make good music. I make music on my brother’s phone. If the music is quality, it will shine through the audio and sound limitations.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
As I mentioned above, I have no professional tools or access to a studio. I make my beats on my brother’s laptop, which only runs FL Studio 11, and then record music on his phone. So, it’s a bit of a challenge to get the quality to a good and almost great level.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Beautiful Beats99. His tutorials, musical style, and genuine, hopeful character are one of the things that keep me going.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I would like to at least get on a playlist that gives more than 50 streams a day. From there, I can work on going higher and hopefully get on an editorial playlist.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
To keep creating beats and music, releasing a single a week, and getting placements on playlists—even small ones. I just need to get my music heard.
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
General blogs, Spotify playlists, something like promotion sounds, and IG paid ads.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
