What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Hypeman, from Norway
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I used to have extreme Adhd, and one day I was offered a DJ job and the name Hype came up because I always had enormous amount of energy. This eventually led to me becoming Hypeman, but you can call me Hype. I also tattoed my face with Hype to claim the title entirely.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It all started with an experimental, fun & joy ride until it became my life saving passion.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Its kind of horrific but someone told me to always flip the negative to positive. So when I recorded the last track, I was standing in my home studio with a really bad smell in the room, but I just ignored it since the music comes first. I kept mixing, tweaking and hours went by. Later on, more or less like now, we have been kicked out of our home because our landlord got cold feet after we made accusations of a dead rat under the floor.(the smell got unbareable) It turned out to be a critical situation since the house is now filled with a bad smell that does not leave the room and we got sick before we left. We will win this case tho!
What message do you want to convey through your music?
The truth, nothing but the truth. The truth have set me free numerous of times.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I have had many challenges with my music the last year. One of the hardest one was two children running around making noise all the time making it extremely difficult to land vocals. It all was solved by bringing them both on a chair to watch me record. This was also a very challenging thing for me since I always used to record alone…
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Kenrick Lamar. Its my biggest inspiration in music since Turn Me Up.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
To the moon and beyond. I will just enjoy making music until im dead, no matter what happends. I will do what I love the most.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
To bring my music on tour, performances and everything the Universe has in store for me.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Its Spotify. Thats where I put my focus.
