What’s your stage name and where are you from?
We go by JOMEGA, and we’re from Washington, DC.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
Our stage name, JOMEGA, is an amalgamation of our middle names. Plus, JOMEGA sounds cool.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Act 1: Let’s try to get good before we put anything out.
Act 2: Dag; I think we waited too long, and it doesn’t even matter if you’re good anymore.
Act 3: Might as well start releasing stuff.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Saw a car burst into flames while listening to the instrumental and getting the cadences together on the drive home. It was wild—looked like an action movie shot in 1995.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
The main messages we wish to convey through our music are: if you can—you should. It’s never a bad bet to take a gamble on yourself, and anything is possible if you break your adventure—whatever your personal adventure may be—down into small, actionable goals. Also, stay encouraged.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
The worst part of doing all the recording, mixing, and mastering ourselves is the learning curve of Pro Tools. It’s like trying to bake a soufflé on a construction site at times, and other times, it’s like wrestling a nugget.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
My dream collaborations are as follows:

  • Childhood Me: 50 Cent. He’s the quintessential rapper to me.
  • Teenage Me: Kanye West because he’s a multidisciplinary artist across varying mediums, and I would like to glimpse his process.
  • College Me: Lil B. He’s the original social media guru and a master of self-promotion.
  • Current Me: Tech N9ne. His ability to manage his artistry and business is legendary, and I would love to learn how he does both so successfully.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see our music growing into a cult following with dedicated listeners that enjoy personal reflection, growth, and vibes. I would love to get some syncs popping off too!

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next step for JOMEGA is to grow our listenership internationally. Right now, the majority of our streams are from the UK and coastal cities in the US. I want to double down on those markets and work to cultivate a solid fan base.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Listen to us on Spotify

What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
@jomegatheronin on Instagram is honestly the best place to reach us outside of our email, jomegabookings@gmail.com.
