Artist Introduction

What’s your name and where are you from?

KILLER from Toronto, Canada

What’s the story behind your stage name?

KILLER – is my legal surname since birth.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Started making music at a young age, in school I was the lead drummer for my band. As life went on people told me I was good at rapping and making music, so I decided to train myself and learn how to produce and engineer my own music. In the last few years I have made over 300 songs while finding my cinematic trap influenced sound.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Each song I make I take a similar approach. Usually I will build out a melody then lay the drums or I come up with the lyrics and melody for the song and record that then finalize the drum pattern. I always have a backwood rolled for each session and thats where the magic comes from.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I like to convey a sense of hope and ambition for the listener. My music takes the listener on journey – if they were to close their eyes, they could visually the image I’m painting through my music. I’d like for the listener to understand that tough times happen in life but its how you deal with it and overcome obstacles to reach your full potential. We all have greatness inside of us we just have to find it.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

The biggest issue I’ve had as an artist and producer who engineer their own music is finding the right balance. Sometimes I can get too much into the production mode or engineering mode. The hardest thing is to maintain the vibe of the song but bringing the song to life for the best listening experience.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I would have to say, Drake. Drake is someone from Canada who has taken the world by storm and has become one of the best artist in the world. I would love to produce a song and if it’s possible getting feature with him. That feature would probably change my life as a co-sign from Drake has done wonders for many other upcoming artists.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

By next year, I hope to have a growing loyal fan base that allows me to start traveling and performing my music.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Next big steps for me would be to obtain a notable feature on a song, grow and have a cult like fan base and change/provide for those around me and working along side me.
