What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s just my name aha, but as a kid teachers would always sing it to the tune of Billie Jean lol.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
A transformative journey of self-confidence and self-love. It has brought me to the very edge of myself in every way. It will always be a part of me.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While create For A Season I found that the song’s meaning grew each day. Like as I was writing or playing demos for people that meaning of enjoying people while they’re here and just not worrying about the future kept being reinforced. And what started out for me as a song about a friendship ending evolved into a song about things ending period so just enjoy the moment.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want people to feel seen, heard, understood. I have felt misunderstood my whole life, so I know how freeing it is to feel seen.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One challenge that I face at times is makingy big ideas (lyrics) fit into the melody I chose or the instrumental I am working on. I tend to write as if I am writing a slam poem so I have to constantly go back and refine/remove haha!
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Any artist ever? I would love at the moment to collaborate with DVSN, I think our vibes/moods could fit on the female side Summer Walker would be super cool as well, similar to her collab with Mariah the Scientist.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Incredible places. Festivals, new streaming heights, artist workshops/residencies. I see big.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Working on my next EP. It is so soul baring and will be an extremely vulnerable moment for me.
