What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Parkerlolo, from the Bay Area with a ten year visit to Hawaii.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

I met J Boog at a venue in Honolulu where I used to DJ. Told him my name was Parker. He said “Paka?, like Pakalolo!?” We both shared a laugh and a doobie and I said “Dats da one!”

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Pause button mixtapes in the 80’s. All vinyl on the 1 & 2’s in the 90’s. Making beats on the keys and pads since 2003.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Most of the beats on this album started with a sample download for various beat battles. Classic hip-hop mentality all the way.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Create art through musical expression with a nod to the greats that can stand the test of time. Learn new techniques and challenge the status quo with passion and resilience.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Juggling multiple jobs to survive in the Bay Area left me with bulging discs in my neck and lower back, ending a career in the wine industry. I was used to injuries in the past as a professional BMXer, but this one hit harder. Fighting depression is hard enough without physical limitations. I picked myself up, did the seemingly endless therapy and treatments, reminding myself that my true love of music would be the best form of therapy in the end.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I’d love to work with The Alchemist at some point to further understand his formula, work ethic, and ability to have so much longevity and relevance. I used to work with Scott Caan on Hawaii 5-0, so maybe we can get the Whooliganz back together!

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I would love to tour again, see more of the world and less of these divided states of America. I’m ready to put in the work, sharpen my skills, and put out more albums and see where it takes me.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

It would be great to meet more like-minded artists and put together a larger collective to put on some shows.
