Q&A Interview with Pray
Lanzen: Welcome, readers! Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Pray, a talented artist hailing from Montreal, Canada. Let’s dive into the conversation!
Lanzen: Pray, thank you for joining us. Can you tell us about your upbringing and how it influenced your relationship with music?
Pray: Growing up, I had a religious background, and although I didn’t particularly enjoy going to church, I always found solace in prayer. This profound peace I felt during prayer has remained with me to this day and has greatly influenced my musical journey.
Lanzen: Your approach to music emphasizes the importance of authenticity and personality. Can you elaborate on the significance of finding one’s voice and treating the creative process like an everlasting canvas?
Pray: Absolutely. I believe that one’s voice is the essence of their artistry. It’s about being true to oneself and not letting the beat overshadow one’s personality. Just as a painter treats their canvas with care, we must approach our music with the same reverence, allowing it to reflect our unique essence and creativity.
Lanzen: It’s fascinating how sometimes creative breakthroughs can happen unexpectedly. Can you share more about your experience of writing without planning a concept and its surprising success?
Pray: It was quite a revelation for me. I decided to try writing without overthinking or planning, and to my surprise, it just clicked. There’s something liberating about allowing creativity to flow freely, without the constraints of preconceived concepts.
Lanzen: As an artist, what kind of impact do you aspire to have on your audience?
Pray: My ultimate goal is for people to recognize my work as uniquely good. I want my music to resonate with listeners on a deep level and leave them in awe of its authenticity and artistry.
Lanzen: Overcoming creative challenges is part of the artistic journey. How did you manage to overcome writer’s block, and what did you learn from the experience?
Pray: I faced intense writer’s block at one point, only to realize that it was partially due to relying too heavily on autotune. Once I stopped using it, I was able to break through the block. It taught me the importance of authenticity and embracing imperfections in my music.
Lanzen: Dream collaborations can fuel artistic aspirations. Why do you see The Alchemist as a potential collaborator, and how do you envision your styles meshing together?
Pray: The Alchemist is simply a legend in the realm of production, and I admire his work immensely. I believe our styles would complement each other perfectly, resulting in a fusion of creativity and innovation.
Lanzen: Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for your music career, particularly with your upcoming short film project?
Pray: I’m aiming for the stars with my music, hoping to achieve triple aluminum status. Additionally, I’m working on a short film project, which I hope will provide a new avenue for my artistic expression and perhaps even lead to broader recognition.
Lanzen: It sounds like you have exciting projects in the works! Can you tell us more about your short film and when we can expect to see it?
Pray: Absolutely! My short film is currently in the works and will be released very soon. It’s a project I’m incredibly passionate about, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
Lanzen: Thank you, Pray, for sharing your insights and journey with us. It’s been a pleasure speaking with you, and we’re excited to see your continued growth and success in the music industry.
