What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Quiz from Los Angeles.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
The homies called me Quiz in school during hallway rap battles—probably because I didn’t look like I could rap!
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It’s been a continuous journey of learning what it means to follow your passion. You can only keep going if you truly love it. As Nip said, “The Marathon Continues.”
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
We got Larussel to feature on my latest track, and my team is super excited. It’ll be part of the group album I have with my guys in “All In,” which includes Naj Ahngeaux, The Beat District, and myself.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Live in your truth, move in your truth, and dominate your life/dreams through your truth.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I almost scrapped the title track “Grateful” from my album because I wasn’t happy with the mix. I fixed it by getting someone else to mix it!
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
The Alchemist—he’s one of my favorite producers, a West Coast staple, and a legend in the game.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I want to connect with people across the country by building a community through my music. I plan to hit as many states as possible next year to meet my community in person.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Continuing to challenge myself with emotional and transparent topics that help people see we’re all going through similar experiences in life.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
For sure.
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
Absolutely.
