What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s an abbreviation of my first name, Rodrigo, and Gates holds many meanings, from opening doors for others to being inspired by one of my favorite songs by Pantera.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My journey is a deep soul exploration where magic and the earthly realm intertwine in a poetic narrative. I fuse elements of Chilean nueva trova with modern rhythms, creating sonic enchantments that invite healing and transformation. My music, full of metaphors and coded messages, seeks to elevate consciousness and ward off negative energies.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While creating “Vagantes,” I had a magical connection with the source of creativity. The melody of the chorus came to me during a day of surfing, and it stuck with me from that moment on.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
Superación, magic, and enchantment, warding off bad vibes through good beats, great sound, and immersive sonic elements.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
It was challenging to find someone to produce my work, so I became self-taught in production, mixing, and mastering. I now make my own beats with my own production.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Kanye West, Björk, and Aphex Twin.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see my music taking me to important festivals, like Lollapalooza Chile.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I hope my next track goes viral and gains wider recognition.
