What’s your stage name and where are you from?
StreetsTeacha, Leicester UK.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I work at a school, but I grew up playing in the streets as a kid.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started writing rap at 14, but I didn’t start recording anything until I was 22. I’m now 23 and have been producing and recording music for a year!
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I recorded most of this song in an hour. I made a beat after listening to Beastie Boys and wanted to put my own vibe into it. It happened so fast, and I love how the track turned out.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
To always be yourself, try and live the best life you can, love yourself, and love the earth.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I’m new to mixing and mastering, and sometimes it’s done my head in. When I don’t know what to do, I show my friends what I’m working on and listen to their thoughts. Taking a break also helps.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Right now? Joey Valence and Brae. I’ve seen them live four times, and the energy they bring is unreal. I take a lot of inspiration from them.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully into some small festivals. I’ve always wanted to perform at festivals. It’s a dream for me.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
To try and make more than just rap music. I love rap, but I also grew up listening to a lot of rock and drum ‘n’ bass. It would be cool to dip my toes into some of that.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Yes!
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
Yes, I have no idea what I’m doing, so any promotion is good for me.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Instagram, TikTok (both @StreetsTeacha).
What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
