What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Styles1001, and I’m from San Francisco, CA.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Because I listen to a lot of different styles of music.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My journey started in the mid ’80s with break dancing, and then I tried my hand at MC’ing. Later, I started beat making and realized that was my true passion.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While creating the full track-listing, I let a few people listen to a few songs and was humbled by the response.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Bringing back the BoomBap sound which includes heavy drums, dope loops, and heavy bass lines.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Due to my busy schedule, going to the studio to master the album was not an option. So I decided to experiment with an at-home AI Mastering Program.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Pete Rock, because I am inspired by his sound and his contribution to the culture.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Overseas in places like Japan, France, Australia, and Brazil.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Putting music out on my own timeline.
