What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Cockpit and I’m from the group GoodShip. I’m from Raleigh, North Carolina

What’s the story behind your stage name?

I always had tons of equipment being a music producer and a audio engineer, making my surroundings look like a cockpit of a airplane…thus…Cockpit. Goodship is a group name for collaborations between me and other emcee’s I do projects with.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

If it has anything to do with music, i had to be a part of it. I practice like everyone is listening. 10,000 hours have been accomplished, but i still feel like the first day i did a new beat. Never lose the fun.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

TikTok chick come from going on TikTok and seeing similar traits in all the girls online. We then went in the studio and put it all those elements and made a song we feel will relate to most people in the social media world.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I want to express quality over quantity. In these days we are really in copy catting our way to making music. I prefer to be original. Give great lyrics, production, and engineering to give you a great listening experience. Hopefully inspiring one to do even better.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Like most hip hoppers, if you use samples or use certain things in your music, it’s clearing samples and getting permission.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I think it would be Nas. I like that he has quality lyrics and creativity. I think we have the same feelings for hip hop and I feel it would be a great music happening.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I’m going to really dive more heavily in music production from around the world. This world is huge, and people everywhere is doing great music and infusing all sounds.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

My next big step is tio have another album this summer. I’m currently working on it and have about 3 songs ready. Shooting for June.
