Wahyo, whose real name is yet to be revealed, is an artist with a unique blend of influences and a talent for turning life experiences into musical gold. His journey began in the third grade when he innocently picked up the flute, thinking it was the easiest instrument to learn (later discovering it wasn’t). Little did he know that this was the first step toward his future in music.
Growing up in a household filled with R&B and hip-hop, it’s no wonder Wahyo found his calling in these genres. In the sixth grade, he started crafting his own rhymes, initially inspired by Esham. His friends were in for a surprise when he dropped Esham’s verse, igniting a spark that would drive him to perfect the art of rap.
Middle school saw him expanding his musical horizons, playing the baritone and immersing himself in the sounds of Mase and DMX. This period also coincided with his parents’ divorce, which added depth and emotion to his lyrics.
It wasn’t until the ninth grade that Wahyo delved into music production, thanks to a friend named Cecil who introduced him to Fruity Loops. His journey continued as he honed his skills as both a rapper and a producer, ultimately leading to the release of his debut project, “Class Of 85,” in 2020.
Wahyo’s music is more than just beats and rhymes; it’s a reflection of his life, influences, and the journey that has shaped him into the artist he is today. His latest release, “Champions (The Anthem),” dropped on August 25, 2023, and it’s a testament to his growth and evolution in the rap game.
With a rap style reminiscent of artists like Travis Scott, J. Cole, Big Sean, Kanye West, and Lil Uzi Vert, Wahyo brings a refreshing blend of energy and wit to the scene. His music has an undeniable catchiness that hooks you from the first listen.
