What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Charles M. Daniel, and I’m from the Bronx, NY.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I’ve gone through dozens of stage names that didn’t fit. I eventually chose Charles M. Daniel because it represents the King (Charles), Angel (Michael), and Prophet (Daniel) within me.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My musical journey has been one hell of a ride. It took me 19 years to find my sound, but it was worth it.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While creating “Resilient,” the bridge was a challenge. I kept hearing the words “I remain” in my head, which turned into a chant that became the heart of the song.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
My message is simple: look within to discover your true self, not the self shaped by trauma or society.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I had issues with clicks and pops in the mix. After learning how to filter and fade, I turned that flaw into a creative feature by mixing in analog to add clicks and pops intentionally.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Cleo Sol because of her warm vocals and brilliant songwriting.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Next year, I see myself creating a world around my upcoming songs and continuing to build on content creation.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step is getting my LLC up and running to establish my music as an independent business.
