What’s the story behind your stage name?
“Dexstarity” came about naturally. “Dex” is short for my real name, Dexter, and “starity” represents my ambition and star quality. Me and my childhood friend came up with each others names while we were figuring out what we wanted to be known by.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My journey started with freestyle raps in driving back and forth from VA to NYC, Rapping in the hallways in schools all over the DMV. It eventually led me to California where I learned to DJ. Music was always in my blood, thanks to my pops, a DJ in his own right. In 2016, I took the leap and released my first project, and I’ve been grinding ever since, constantly evolving my sound and building a loyal fan base.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
One of the coolest experiences on “No Hooks N The Bay” was the unexpected creative synergy between myself and Hollywood Marlayee. We were vibing in the studio, bouncing ideas off each other, and the track “Real Hustla” came together organically. It felt like a true collaboration, capturing both of our energies perfectly.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
My music is all about the hustle, the grind, and staying true to yourself. I want my listeners to feel empowered to chase their dreams, regardless of the obstacles. I also want to share my experiences and perspectives, both the good and the bad, so that my listeners know they’re not alone.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One challenge during the “No Hooks N The Bay” production was finding the right balance between raw energy and polished sound. We experimented with different beats and mixing techniques until we found a sound that felt both authentic and professional.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
If I could work with anyone, it would be 50 Cent. He’s a legend in the game and his entrepreneurial spirit inspires me. Collaborating with him would be a dream come true.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In the next year, I want to keep pushing my boundaries, both as a DJ and a rapper. I want to tour, perform at festivals, and collaborate with other talented artists. I’m also focused on growing my brand and expanding my reach beyond the music scene.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step is to solidify my place in the industry as a multi-faceted artist. I want to be known for my unique sound, my DJ skills, and my ability to connect with my audience on a deeper level.
