Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is FoePound Production and I’m from Atlanta, GA
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It started out being “4 Pound”, named after the weight of a gun smh. I was a young teen at the time and my homie Worko suggested the name. As a youth I was lying in all my raps about killing, cars, women, and all the normal stuff rappers lie about lol. But when was moving into adulthood and near having my first child I felt like I needed to change. So I switched the “4” to “Foe”. Foe means enemy and my enemy is negativity. I kept the “Pound” to show that people can change. From that point I stopped lying in my raps. Now I rap about things that really apply to my life and can inspire others. And “Production” has kinda always been there since a youth unofficially until a few years ago.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Long, beautiful, empowering
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While I was creating my latest track I stopped listening to all other music. I only listened to the the beat I was supposed to rap on for a few days. Went on walks to clear my head and thinking of the right way to attack the song. It actually got kinda annoying not allowing myself to listen to anything else until the song was done. But I know it helped the song in the end.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
You can do more than others believe you can. You can be confident and be different at the same time. You don’t have to fold just because other people do. And keep your eyes open because people will try to do you dirty if they can.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I forget what sound I added to this beat that I liked but when it was time to mix it and I had finally put on my headphones it was sounding no bueno lol. I tried adjusting some things but it wasn’t really working. I ended up swapping the sound for something similar that had a cleaner sound. I think I liked the replacement sound better.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
That is a good question. If I can only pick one I’ll go with HITOMITOI. After discovering k-pop a few years back I’ve really feel in love with the way she puts songs together. So clean and they have that nostalgic sound which I love.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see me being listened to by a larger audience. I’m not sure how much larger but no matter the amount I will do what I can to let them know I appreciate them. 100%
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Landing some nice sync placements that help me quit my job. I be hating going to that place lol
