J Terrell is my stage name and Im from Dallas, Texas

What’s the story behind your stage name?

It ended up being my most honest stage name, it’s from my first name and a family name! I scrambled to find one that was honest. Although my music can be many things i thought it was important to be myself in a way.

A discover a dream. A recover from doubt. A return to adventure.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

I had a crazy fun time making my new single. There were so many versions of the song just playing with the sounds and respecting the time referenced.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Since my music really is me returning to art that I love, I want people to have fun with my music and see how much fun I had making it

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

I had a hard time getting clarity in my voice, and actually not hiding so much behind the track. Its something you actually see thought the songs on my album if you listen in order. Ending with my clearest song.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Theres so many, I would love to highlight certain artists but overall it depends on the track. I think flo would be really cool since they have perfected harmony, or tpain because he has a genius ear. I come into music with si much respect for everyone’s contribution

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

On a world tour. Twice.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

My next project is committing to the sound showcased in boyfriend material. Showing my chops in the pop world and bring back some of that mtv sound we miss.
