There’s a difference between having a moment and making the moment look small. Boys Noize has spent the better part of his career understanding that distinction, and just when the victory lap seems justified, Alex Ridha is already looking for a darker room, a nastier bassline, and another reason to turn the system inside out.
Calling this a “generational run” almost undersells the point. The phrase makes it sound like a hot streak, a lucky alignment of festival bookings and cultural co-signs. But Ridha’s recent trajectory—from the Nine Inch Nails Peel It Backtour to his work on the TRON: Ares soundtrack and the arrival of Nine Inch Noize—suggests something more interesting: an artist whose instincts still thrive when the ground shifts beneath him.
Now comes “1 1 1,” featuring ZEP, the first taste of 7LLVSION, his first solo album in five years. And if this single is the warning shot, the next chapter isn’t interested in playing nice.
The bassline doesn’t simply hit. It stalks.
Built around a menacing, shape-shifting EBM groove and a frantic new wave pulse, “1 1 1” lives in that beautiful, uncomfortable space where machines feel almost human and human performances sound gloriously unhinged. There’s an analog roughness to the track, but its movements feel anything but nostalgic. It pulls from industrial music’s physical aggression without getting trapped in a museum piece of its own influences.
