What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Joseph Calderon and I’m from Florida.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I used to go by different names when I was younger, I started doing music at 15. But in 2019 I decided to go by my given name because I felt the need to be more myself and it felt more authentic.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It’s been very rewarding in many cases and in others extremely discouraging. But my girl really pushes me and the love we both have for Hiphop keeps me going!
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
This is my second track I mixed and mastered myself. It was really something I have always wanted to do. I got tired of having to pay someone to create my sound.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
To be authentic to yourself and be true to yourself. All that material stuff; chains, shoes, girls, waste of money! In the end loving yourself and learning to communicate, sharing your experience in life will benefit your soul’s growth!
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Because this was my first time ever making a beat and producing myself, I didn’t know where to even begin. I realized creating a melody or finding a sample loop helped me a lot.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
In terms of mainstream, I would love to collaborate with Bad Bunny. Just because of how much he truly gives back to the island of Puerto Rico and what he stands for in general. Less mainstream artists I would love to work with LockSmith and Ab-Soul, they are just amazing conscious rappers.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In the next year to be more global and have a stronger fan base!
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Mastering my sound and getting out of my comfort zone. I tend to be to myself and because of that I want to explore more with music.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Video on YouTube and recent song on all platforms.
