Kydd Jones is determined to set 2025 ablaze and gets an assist from the iconic music festival SXSWin his hometown of Austin, Texas with a live performance from his set for local radio station 91.7 KOOP FM. Jones’s timeless performance of his introspective hip-hop track “King” over a production from Black Pumas guitarist Adrian Quesada was recently released by SXSW on their official YouTube channel. In the song, Kydd mentions the effects of the pandemic (“used to carry a nine, now I keep a mask and lysol”) and of the injustices Black Americans go through (“Breonna Taylor tears, I ain’t cried in years”) in a peek of what he’s got in store in this pivotal year for his career.
