What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Hi, I’m Alexis Lace, and I am originally from South Western France, although I have lived here in London for over 20 years.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Alexis is one of my two middle names, the other one being Beverly. My first name is actually Marina, but Alexis has ALWAYS been my preferred name. Lace is sort of short for my real surname, which I deemed a little too famous already to use as a stage name. Yes, it’s Lacoste…
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started writing songs when I was 12 and had zero resources to make them come to life. I then turned to acting before seriously writing music again during the pandemic. I am now a music producer, songwriter, and singer, and I mix and master all my songs as well.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I am not sure anything interesting happened, besides the fact that we were in a global pandemic and I always thought that “The Tale-Tell Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe was an amazing concept for a story. One interesting fact though, maybe, is that this song was originally composed on my electric guitar, back when I used to make Hard Rock and grunge.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
My lyrics are always very personal, and my biggest hope is that someone out there will identify with my lyrics, may they help them get through difficulties and pain. I for one was saved multiple times by other artist’s lyrics. I love that “Oh my God this is my life!” sort of feeling.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I think this one came quite smoothly, actually. Besides the fact that I’m a perfectionist so I keep revisiting mixes like a million times!
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Oh there are so many! I would say grandson, UNSECRET, Mushroomhead, and League of Legends would be great contenders!
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully somewhere for a change! Haha. I hope to get more listeners for sure, as I am currently writing new music, but it’s all very hush hush for now.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I am planning on starting doing open mics, as I haven’t had the time to play live much for now. But my next album will definitely be my biggest next step!
