What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Dane Prophet and From Chicago Illinois born and raised.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Think of the story of Peter and how Jesus changed his name from Simon, or any other biblical story where God changed the name of his ordained messages. In this story God changed my name.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Starting off I never had did music for the sake of change or giving my Lord and Savior praise. I left Hip-Hop and upon giving my life to Christ I come as I am as Jesus says Come as you are. Jesus never left me. So doing hip hop music through testimony is something I never saw at 19.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
An interesting experience we had was definitely how $Ri-Chi$ came up with the hook and everything else followed. It fell in line with everything I had written and one interesting fun fact is me and $Ri-Chi$ didn’t lay out verses till the day we came together and when we do it’s a jointing powerful combination. We really keep God at the center when we do these features together.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
The message that I want to continue to convey is the enemy is not the people. The enemy is the demonic forces that dwell in places only God knows to rebuke. He will fight the battle for you. Love your neighbor.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I would say a challenge that we faced while working on our latest project is overall being able to pack a 2 hour studio session for a 2:50 second song. I learned from my previous projects and noticed not everyone attention spans to songs over 3 and a half minutes and that’s not just with me. First 40 seconds of a song are very important and $Ri-Chi$ carried that very well. We do what we do from our hearts and when we record it’s always epic.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I can see myself collaborating with Dee-1 or Lecrae. If God means for it to happen he will tell me.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Continuing to influence generations and generations to come. Step by step day by day. And always knowing that whatever is done I do it from the heart.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step is achieving me & $Ri-Chi$ collab first ever album and the next Solo Studio Album with my latest resources I have since being With AWAL now as an independent artist.
