What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Rafa de la Santa and I´m from Cuba
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Santa Clara is the name of the city where I was born, and Rafael is my real name; I just combined my name with that of my city.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My musical journey has been beautiful so far, full of highs and lows but always learning
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Creating my latest song has been super fun and enriching, it’s the first time I’ve left my country thanks to music, and I find myself writing in a new country and new context. I think that will be reflected in this song.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Through my music, I am interested in conveying a message of love, peace, and harmony, and at the same time, providing a vision of how we can be happy in various circumstances of life.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
During the production process, I have faced difficult moments, such as not liking what was recorded afterwards, but I have taken the time to listen carefully and re-record, changing what I didn’t like.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Cultura Profética, I think they have a very unique way of making music, and it also keeps me close to my Caribbean roots.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I have already managed to go on tour outside of my country. I believe that in the upcoming year, many more international events and invitations will come.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I believe the next step in my career is to release my album and continue writing songs that reflect where I am at now.
