What’s your stage name and where are you from?

JusKolMeAl- (Jus call me Al)

What’s the story behind your stage name?

After having several stage names in my early career, I was in a battle and when the host asked me my name, I told him “just call me Al”. When he introduced me, he did as Jus Call Me Al. It Stuck with me.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Years of work, years of progression, a lifetime of memories.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

I really just wanted to stick with my production but when I made the beat, it really forced me to pick up the pen again.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

That boom Bap rap is not dead. There is still a desire for it by many people and that’s who I do this for. If it’s not your cup of tea, then stick to coffee and latte’s.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Trying to find a balance between being overly complex with my lyrics and trying to somewhat not turn away the short attention spans of listeners. I don’t think I overcame it, I really just said to myself, “do what you do, and don’t alienate those who love you for what you are”.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I would love to do a track Jhene Aiko. She is one of my favorite artist. I would also love to collaborate with Conway and/or Benny.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I just hope to gain a few fans and continue to perform when the opportunities come. I would love to get a movie opportunity, I love acting as well.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

I would love to audition for movie roles, I am a pretty good actor as I have had some training in the field.
