Artist Spotlight: Larando Suave from Dallas

3

What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Larando Suave, and I’m from Dallas.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
It sounded cool to me.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started with garage bands, learned to make beats, and began writing songs to add vocals to them.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I got cali sober and now value the authenticity that brings to my music. My demo track, “Cartoon Ghost in Love,” which is only on my SoundCloud, reflects that journey.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
Just to be yourself and don’t be afraid to take risks, creatively or in life.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I’ve been working with a Nigerian rapper, Fortress Nino, who uses a unique lo-fi process. Sometimes he can’t record because the power goes out all the time in his area.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I already answered this—I only collaborate with Fortress Nino at the moment. We’re kind of like a band.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I’ve found myself naturally progressing toward producing more and doing less vocal stuff.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I make my own merch and have started getting into clothing design in general. So maybe the next step isn’t even music!

We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Sure.

Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
Not particularly.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Right now, I have a retrospective compilation called Larando Suave’s Greatest Hits Vol. 1 on SoundCloud, and my project with Fortress Nino, Mint Green EP, is dropping soon on all streaming platforms.

What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
SoundCloud, probably.
