What’s your stage name and where are you from?

My nom de plum is Saint Profit. I was born in Brooklyn and raised in Florida. My home base of operations is Orlando,

What’s the story behind your stage name?

The name has gone through evolution over the years. I started my art as Black Profit. Inspired by Black Thought and a song from Jeru the Damaja called “Can’t Stop The Prophet”. It stuck because it fit my personality. I was running the street with my crew even though I grew up in the church and eventually went to UCF school for business. Prophecy was the most interesting part of the Bible to me. My comrades would come to me with their ideas and I would help them see it through. So the name Profit has a very strong connection to me. Saint Profit is the energy I’m on. It’s the final form. I am a professional closer (sales executive)as a civilian. Bringing together all facets of my life like spiritually, creatively & currency

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

My journey in music has been an adventure like searching for the holy grail. Wondering if you could be a myth or a legend and knowing it’s only one fan at a time. I find it cringe to even call somebody a fan. Weird.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

My latest track that is out now is Road Rash. Produced by the Dirty Bakerz featuring RJ Payne and Dat Guy Ike. It’s definitely a full circle moment for me. Mr. Shaff of the Dirty Bakerz produced one of my early songs, 100 MC back in 2000 when I was using the name Black Profit. So it was an honor and a privilege when he reached out to me for a feature. The song came together lovely and the feedback has been awesome. I got a shout out from Kid Capri. Another full circle moment. As a teenager I carried his crates for an event he did in town. It’s just soooo Hip Hop!

What message do you want to convey through your music?

This is revelry, rebel, and revolution music wrapped in fun. A sophisticated ratchet one would say. I want to capture the imagination of the audience. My music is about the beautiful complexities of life and saying something that will stand the test of time. I am a big fan of self development greats like Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn and Neapolitan Hill. I admire how much of an impact they still have today beyond the grave.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Engineers are the chefs kiss of a production. You can live or die depending on who engineers your music. We’ve had issues on our deliverables from an engineer. The fix is having someone in house. I have been involved in production most of my life from building stages, working with talent, recording music to video production and nothing ever goes smoothly. For me at least.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Black Thought or anyone from Wu-Tang.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I have an interesting goal for myself and my team in creating music. Our production company is exploring the realms of comic books, figurines, video games, clothing, long and short format storytelling.
I’m treating myself as a new artist in this day and age. So here is where the fun is. My current project is a group project with beatsbyDEEE called AstroNot & The ALIEN. We have two songs out H.I.M. & C.O.O.K. Video is forthcoming and the album on the way. And a new song “Shooter” coming next month. You can find us online at AstroNotandTheALIEN.com We also have some dope merch too.
In addition I’m curating my solo record. I want to create an audio visual cinematic universe.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

We want to curate a live experience for the music we produce. I am inspired by set design, lighting, video walls, air cannons, flamethrowers and ALL THE THINGS. I want to make music that is fitting for all those shenanigans.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?

H.I.M & C.O.O.K. By AstroNot & The ALIEN on all platforms.
Road Rash by Mr. Shaff featuring RJ Payne, Dat Guy Ike and myself also on all platforms and vinyl available now. And you can see what we’ve been working on through our socials.
