Ben Munro – Pretend-Remix: Emotion Rewired in Melody

Although he comes from Limerick, Ireland, Ben Munro is not only seeking chart success—he is a storyteller who puts real emotions into every song. Ben is only starting out in music and his musical style weaves between close singer-songwriter feelings and simple melodies that remind us of Ed Sheeran and The Kid Laroi. One thing that Ben does differently is turn his grief into something that touches our hearts by reworking his own inner pain. At LCFE College, Ben was involved in more than music theory—he linked up with friends Billy Allen and Lyas White (Elpup) to transform a passionate song.

On April 21, 2025, Dillon Francis released the amazing remix entitled “Pretend-Remix,” and with it he brings something truly incomparable. The track “Pretend” by Ben was made after a loss, dedicated to someone dearly missed. Because of its updated production and many subtle layers, the remix stands out as a powerful version. Ben Munro’s “Pretend-Remix”, powered by a memorable guitar melody and professional production, sets the scene for when honesty meets ambition.

“Pretend-Remix” does not use vague phrases or fancy talk. You feel the intensity from the very first note, then the joy of it. A gentle guitar melody is heard at the beginning and then the song moves to Ben’s calm and honest singing. His attitude is not trying to convince us he is hurt—it wants us to relate to him. The song begins with a gentle melody and many small layers that invite you in without taking attention away from what the song is about.

There is a faint but determined strength in the people here. Instead of staying still, the song pushes ahead with help from clever production and a mix of melancholy and hope. There are many clear signs in the mix of the teamwork between Billy Allen and Elpup. The percussion is not dominant, but adds exactly what’s needed, the vocals are always clear but naturally done and the guitar ties the whole song together. It is a tune you can cry to, listen to in the car or think about while being by yourself. It takes a lot of effort to be able to work as a multi-talented actor which they earn with their skills.

For songs like “Pretend-Remix” that hold such emotional weight, it can be helpful to explore even more contrast within the structure—whether through dynamics, vocal texture, or instrumental shifts. Listeners often connect deeply with a moment of sudden drop or unexpected rise. In future work, playing with silence, tension, and release could push an already strong song into something unforgettable. Also, building in a middle-eight or bridge that breaks from the expected pattern might add even more replay value. Still, the vulnerability and craftsmanship here are clearly present and appreciated.
