Werdperfect, hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, and also known as Matthew Leeb, has roots deeply embedded in the Midwest hip-hop scene. As a teenager, he honed his craft in the rap group Anti Biter Coalition, sharing stages with underground hip-hop acts like Tame One, SA Smash, Aesop Rock, and others. After venturing west and settling in Los Angeles, CA, Werdperfect continues to produce music that reflects his unique perspective on the world.
Raised in a musically enriched environment, with a father as a Classic Rock guitarist and a mother with a deep love for music, Werdperfect draws inspiration from the golden era of hip-hop. His commitment to the nostalgic sound of raw lyrical rap, paired with beautifully arranged samples, showcases his mastery of the craft, using an MPC 2000xl to capture the classic sound of his predecessors.
The fusion of old-school hip-hop, conscious hip-hop, and boom-bap beats creates a sonic landscape reminiscent of hip-hop legends like Gang Starr, Rakim, Group Home, and Pete Rock & C.L.
