Artist Introduction
What’s your name and where are you from?
My Name is Theo Royle and I’m from UK
What’s the story behind your stage name?
The story behind my stage name is growing up me and my older brother were called Slimm & Grimm, him because he was Slim and me because I never used to smile all too much whilst out on the streets, getting up to mischief was a big part of my teenage and early adult life.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My Journey started out during my early teens when I realised I had the ability to write songs with my first two songs I ever wrote, “Too Hot To Handle” & “Too Cold To Hold” inspired from the Bobby Brown song “On My Own” both of those songs had two different themes, THTH was more female orientated whereas TCTH was more of a street song. Skipping ahead when I was 21 I joined a Musical group called The EQ’z, we did a couple a shows in my city and then I left due to a fallout and physical confrontation with the leader of the group. Since then I have been a Solo artist but also had my own artists from my team “DA LT’s” work with me.
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Whilst writing my latest release “TV Set’s” I took on the Past, Present & Future perspective but slightly altered the order, with what I have and am doing now vs what I went through and how i got here vs where I want to be and be doing
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
an interesting fact about the song is, it was actually first recorded about 7 years ago, but because it was recorded around a friends house with his own set up (not a studio) I let it sit on the shelf plus I never liked my flow or vocal sound when I listened back recently, So then I decided to Re-record the song this year and also rewrite little bits also to adapt to my new flow.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist it would be Nas, as he’s my favourite MC of all time, plus I know I would have to bring my A-game within the track.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see my music taking me to more Live performances as I have done 5 altogether within my city, so looking to branch out further and even Overseas.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Performing at Festivals even if it is as an opening act, maybe even signing to a record label and also expand my Merchandise
