What’s your name and where are you from?
My name’s danté and I’m from Montreal, Canada
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I decided to keep my stage name the same as my real name (Dante Caloia) because it holds weight. I was named after an Italian poet, who wrote the famous Dante’s inferno, which was a journey through hell.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started by being an observer and a fan of 90s rap. I decided one day to try it myself. Next thing I knew I realized I could share my emotions and make others feel less alone through my own original music.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My friend and producer recently helped me recreate my first ever single which was originally recorded on an mf doom beat. For copyright reasons we made a beat from scratch with a similar vibe. Watching him build it from scratch was insanely cool and gave me more insight into the behind-the-scenes of producing
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want people to know that they’re not alone in the everyday emotions they feel about things like mortality, loss, love, and other things. I want people to see that whenever they feel like you have no one to turn to, they can always use my music as support, just like music supported me.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I used to hate my own voice (like most people do) but I forced myself to listen to my songs over and over until I started to get used to it.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Probably Kofi stone. He’s a uk artist who has always been a huge inspiration for me because he speaks from his heart and tells such elegant stories. He never makes songs that don’t feel genuine, which is how I strive to be.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Upwards and onwards, to the top 🙂
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Selling out a solo show. Someday I hope to make this a reality.
