Artist Introduction

What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Our duo goes by the name Sorg & Napoleon Maddox ,… Sorg is a name that Leo Dufourt chose back in the day a long time before we met, and Napoleon Maddox is my real name since birth.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
Sorg chose his name based on the sound of the word and the way it looked as a tag when he chose it back when… nothing deeper as far as I know .. we decide to keep our project name simple .. but in fact there is a real chemistry between us, in the studio and on stage .. its a real group, you can see that it’s more that just 1 guy on beats & another on vocals.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I (Napoleon) was on tour with my band ISWHAT?! and other projects in France around 2012 and Sorg contacted me to do a feature on the CD he was working on at the time. The track we recorded, “Wild West” turned out pretty dope. We decided to make an official duo.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While creating our latest single, “If You” we realized the verses all worked just as well with the much whether sung or rapped, so throughout the song we played with both, like a dance.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
We want to show through our music that there is another way to see things. a liberating approach to life if we can be honest in our expression.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Honestly the biggest challenge we have is deciding which ideas we really want to follow through on, because we have so many good aides.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Probably Queen Latifah, cause she is so multifaceted and an underrated legendary powerhouse.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I definitely see my music taking me to African countries next year.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step for me is to write a book and exhibit my visual art linked to my music.
