Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
B1GJuice from Brampton, Ontario, Canada
What’s the story behind your stage name?
As a kid in high school I was pretty big and played football, so a lot of people assumed I was taking steroids (on the juice) and I also ‘juiced’ (drank) more than I should have lol. I don’t even drink anymore though which is crazy.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Former NCAA Football player turned artist after he lost dream due to a heart condition. Currently making music to help anyone that has been through anything similar to him; lost soul trying to find their way.
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I found out I hate drums on beats while I’m writing. Drums are always in your face and normally set the mood, tone, tempo, etc; without them, you have more of a blank canvas to work with. During the writing phase for my latest project, none of the beats had drums on them.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Just keep pushing! We all have downs and if your alive; it can always be worse. So just keep working at whatever you doing and don’t quit. We might be able to change our circumstances; but we can control the outcome.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Writers block. It sucks. It happens to every single artist, but what I learned is that only some of us look at it as a hindrance to creating music. Sometimes we think we can’t write, when really we just can’t write what we WANT to. You just have to get it all out; good or bad, and continue with creating.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Isiah Rashad; he is my inspiration when it comes to creating rap music. I love his vulnerability and the way he can turn any story/idea into a bop.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Performing outside of Canada, but I honestly have no idea. I’m just going to keep creating and putting out quality product in hopes it reaches who it needs to. I’m just trying my best to enjoy the process right now.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I want to start creating plays and operas. Something I don’t think I’ve ever seen done with any “urban” genres of music. I want to show people that our stories are more valuable that just songs, and that they can be conveyed much more deeply.
