Celebrate Black Excellence: Taste of Soul 2024

150

Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Crenshaw Blvd., from Obama Blvd. to Stocker Ave.

For 19 years, Taste of Soul has reigned as one of the most powerful celebrations of Black culture and enterprise. Danny J. Bakewell, Sr., founder and visionary behind the event, perfectly sums it up:

“Taste of Soul embodies the collective strength, unity, and spirit of the Black community. Every year, we come together to celebrate our people, our businesses, our shared journey, and the beauty of our culture. We owe this success to the love and support of the community—it’s because of you that this continues to thrive.”

Taste of Soul offers a vibrant blend of soul food, Caribbean cuisine, fried and grilled favorites, vegetarian delights, and irresistible desserts. The event is also a music lover’s dream, with top-tier performers taking the stage. Three stages will host an array of talent: the Bakewell MediaMusic for the Soul” Stage, the Mothers In Action Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage, and the Radio Free 102.3 KJLH Music Stage.

For families, Children’s World, sponsored by First 5 California, will provide fun activities like face painting, inflatable games, and a slime tank. Meanwhile, LAX Lounge, produced by Los Angeles World Airports, will host career panels and job opportunities. Los Angeles County will also be on-site conducting job interviews.

Actress and comedienne Tiffany Haddish returns as the celebrity co-chair for the event. Other key chairs include notable figures like L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and more. Their collective efforts, along with contributions from corporate sponsors, small businesses, and community members, make Taste of Soul a reality.

This year’s Premiere Sponsors include Chevrolet, Chase Bank, Southern California Gas Company, Metro, and many more.

Don’t Miss Out!

Join the celebration in South Los Angeles with your family and friends for a day filled with food, music, and community. Free parking and shuttle services are available from Crenshaw High School and Dorsey High School. You can also take the Metro directly to the event.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appeal. I must say you have done a superb job with this. In addition, the blog loads very fast for me on Safari. Outstanding Blog!
