What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Antoin Gibson and I’m from Belfast, Northern Ireland but have lived in London since I was 18 when I moved to study at Imperial College. 14 years ago. o_o
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My stage name is simply by birth name. It is Irish and simply pronounced Anton due to the way it is actually spelt so technically I always spell my own name wrong Antóin , it was the name given to me by my mother who was the greatest but passed from medical negligence from 2018 so I wear the name with the pride of what she named me. ❤️
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started Violin at 5, piano, singing, hip-hop and was in musical theatre 10-18. I only started fully writing and producing my own tracks since September 2025. 😅
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Well my latest track I wrote on my mobile phone notepad while shopping flicking from grocery list to tick off and then a notepad with rather aggressive rap lyrics making it hilarious to think about. 😂
What message do you want to convey through your music?
My latest track was rather an early days rage drop before it was time to be fully understood. I always have listened to music as a sonic experience, from the vocals, the production, the sonic delicate details that are added as a holistic immersion. I don’t stick to labels, judge music and artists on if they have a song that works and doesn’t and hate them based on that. People would say my music appears to be having a genre identity crisis, but it’s definitely not the case. Like with people, music isn’t labels and genre specific bound. Each development is an experience, genre doesn’t exist outside our perception. My music and message which applies across everything, we are 100% unique to ourselves, labels are socially constructed. Don’t let yourself be confined when you don’t have to be. ❤️
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Em, all of it. Haha. When I write lyrics, as odd as it may sound I have a concept and I write 10-20 minutes starting at the start and finishing at the end. Which is highly unusual it appears with many artists maybe writing a hook or verse then coming back to write a bit more weeks or months later. This makes no sense in my mind but whatever works and is someone’s creative process, right? When I write I write each lyric with purpose as a soundscape, how the music and performance and idea of that very lyric I want to portray in the end product before it’s even got music to go along with it. So production is a trial and error game! I am very technological and may be what people would clarify a “geek” in that sense so I can work my way around the controls without knowing all the detail. But I love learning new things and the more expensive the challenge and determination to do it then I get there in the end.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Dana from the now defunct CSJH The Grace (Kpop 1st Gen soloist then repackaged and debuted as a second gen group member). She has always been my rock, her passion and journey as a musician I could relate with. When life and her musical career wasn’t going well or fading she always came back in a blaze of glory finding a way to show she was active and passionate as ever. ❤️
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I have no idea, I’ve released a few VERY different tracks already rather sporadically. I didn’t expect my track FlexAble a personal understanding on what a Flex track was and creating a satirical piece incorporating my definition with a lyrical real-life definition. I have around 25 songs completed already hence the fast drops. Since it was a total accident that I even gained traction at the start that I was shocked like “oops”. I’m hoping to roll out a more fine tuned and less chaotic approach as the start was exactly that, pure chaos.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
My music is me, and in life I’m generally not heard for being neurodivergent there is always a communication barrier that I struggle with. Music helps me express myself emotionally and the fact it resonated to people round the world, regardless of the song I’m greatly appreciative as I feel like a piece of me has been heard by someone and that’s absolutely beautiful for me. I love when people actively enjoy something I produced because I want to share and contribute to the world even if daily life is a struggle and holds me back. My next step is to ironically take a step back and assess exactly what is happening and what is my next best or thought out move.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
It’s on Spotify, just search my artist name, YouTube, Bandcamp if you want to support me for a steal price! Em, googling me actually yields results as an artist just from a journey of over a month so am not that hard to find! You can even Alexa one of my track titles and it plays! That was such a freaky but amazing experience when I first did that haha
