What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Aquila Forever, and as a music group we come from all over North America, but myself, Liam, the founder, am from Victoria, British Columbia.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
The name Aquila Forever came about after a back and forth about changing our name from what it originally was. Before the name ‘Aquila’, back in 2019, we were simply the ‘Aries Network.’ A group of friends who met during an Aries livestream (Aries is an artist we all enjoyed when we first met). One of our members, TNinety from Tennessee, suggested the name Aquila after the constellation, and the Forever was added to represent we want to be more than just a group, but a movement as well in the underground music scene. Plus, it adds to the name’s uniqueness.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
We came together as musicians trying to collaborate. We became a family through our work and shared interests, teaching eachother everything we know. Now we’re ready to make the best art we can through team creativity.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Lincoln’ was made during our music group’s first in person studio meet up, in Gatineau, Quebec. Lincoln represents the struggles that artists face when trying to create something from nothing. Ironically, Lincoln took almost 2 years to complete with many changes and hiccups along the way, making the hook evermore endearing.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Our goal from the beginning was to be an example to other artists trying to make an impact, to show that this industry is something that should be built on collaboration and open expression. If I can record a song in my kitchen and make it sound as good as we do, you can too.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
During the creation of our last track ‘Lincoln,’ many things went wrong. In fact, early on in the process when it felt like we were nearing a finished state for the instrumental, the entire project file got lost. Over time we built ‘Lincoln’ back up into something better than it originally was. A lesson I’ve learned over time is that everything is an opportunity, even loss,
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Honestly, anyone that inspires us, but I’d be remised if I didn’t say the artist that brought us all together in the first place: Aries.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I can’t speak for everyone, however, I see music taking us to collaborating even further. By that I mean more in person meet ups, music sessions, and creative endeavors.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
We dropped ‘Lincoln’ at the top of this year as a stepping stone. Our goal this year is to all individually release our own projects as well as come together as the group AQUILA FOREVER to solidify our name to our fans. We want to be known as this collective and expand our catalogue much further. Who knows, maybe even a project is in the works between us..
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Lincoln’ just released February 7th, and can be heard on every streaming platform. To find it simply visit aquilaforever.com
