What’s your stage name and where are you from?
BraedenV is based on the East Coast of Canada, in Charlottetown, PEI.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It abbreviates my full name, and it offers a lot of rhyming opportunities having a name with an ‘E’ vowel sound at the end. A lot of rappers use multiple nicknames for themselves in their music because it can help with lyrics and rhyming schemes.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
BraedenV is one of the most consistently performing rappers on the East Coast of Canada, averaging two live shows a month since his first show in 2021 while sharing stages with Canadian artists like Dax, K-os, Madchild, Junk, Robbie G, and more. Nominated for R&B, Rap, and ‘Digital Presence’ provincial music awards, BraedenV has been recognized by the industry, appearing in over a dozen articles and blogs. Making good content, for an indie artist with a small budget, BraedenV works to make his music and visuals as professional and top quality as possible.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
This is the third time feature rapper Spivey and BraedenV have collaborated on a track. Their last appearance on a record together resulted in ‘Trendsetter’, one of the most popular tracks in both artists’ catalogues.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
BraedenV’s music is often motivational and positive. He works to inspire and urges listeners to pursue their goals and dreams in life. His lyrics often eschew hip-hop’s more materialistic and negative tropes.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Fade Out was supposed to release with a music video on day one, but during shooting, a camera light stopped working, so a lot of the footage was too dark. On top of that, a car caught fire on the other side of the bridge BraedenV and Spivey were shooting on, causing a large distraction and delay.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would want to collaborate with Post Malone. He seems genuinely good-natured and fun, and he makes the catchiest, most fun songs, many of them with a rap vibe. We would make an absolute hit.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
BraedenV has eyes set on an East Coast Music Award, and will be working to showcase his music overseas for industry professionals in 2025. His album will be released in full over 2025, and he has a lot of touring and festival performances on the horizon.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
BraedenV is ready to tour across Canada or the US. He needs a manager, booking agent, or team to help get him to the next level in his career. He has all the pieces put together and does it all himself. With a team to take some of the workload off his back, he could focus on his craft even more and make better music and put on even better shows.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Yes please. I have an infrequent podcast of my own and have been on the radio several times for interviews. Let’s make it happen.
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
BraedenV wants all the smoke. Any opportunity to build a sustainable business and career out of his music is an opportunity he will take a close look at.
