What’s your stage name and where are you from?
I’m Citrus the Drunken Prophet, and I’m from Tucson, AZ.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
In high school, I had a huge orange afro, and in my twenties, I made some drunken premonitions that came true later in the evening. Someone called me “a drunken prophet,” and I decided to run with it.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It’s been a glorious adventure filled with surprises. I am constantly discovering myself on a deeper level. Creating Hip Hop is the most effective alchemical process I’ve ever used to program myself into the person I wish to become.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I was inspired by a 60 Minutes episode on Shaolin monks, and I learned that their lifestyle and training regimen are absolutely insane!
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Don’t take life too seriously, have fun, and follow your passion no matter what!
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Sometimes I get writer’s block. I’ll either go for a walk or simply allow myself to write garbage until I find something that works.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Aesop Rock, because he is the greatest rapper to ever live, hands down.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
More adventures, more laughs, more play, more memories, more experiences, more love—nothing else truly matters.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The tracks I have coming down the pipeline are some of the best songs I’ve ever made, and I’m confident they will gain more traction than I ever have.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Yes, please!
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
I’m absolutely open to the idea, yes.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
