What’s the story behind your stage name?

It’s simple really…I just like the name Devin. Summers is a last name I use because at one point it described the way my music sounded but now I have because it sounds good.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Long time coming and a lot of overthinking. I use to make music that I thought people would like or want to hear. Now, I create music to tell my story and the story of my family.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Recording the track. I usually don’t like recording with other people in the room but this time around I recorded the song with two good friends. One of them is a fellow artist that goes by Bdot Jeff and the other is my photographer Austin (Aft6ix on Instagram). The experience was fun because we spent most of the time cracking jokes.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Be authentic. Honor yourself and those who came before you. Never forget where you came from and who you are.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Nobuo Uematsu. Video game music has always been a huge influence on me because I grew up playing JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Star Ocean. I would love to create something that reminds me of the games my older sister introduced me to as a kid.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

To the festival stage. I want to perform at Camp Flog Gnaw or even MIKE’s Young World festival

Releasing my next project.
