What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Don Shimoda, Southern California

What’s the story behind your stage name?

Its Based off of two characters from 2 books. Donald Shimoda from Illusions by Richard Bach and Don Juan Matus from The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castenada. Don + Shimoda is what I came up with.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Its Experience, Spirituality, and Healing through Music is the true essence of what I’m trying to do. I always want the lyrics to be brain food, but relatable at the same time. Keep their heads nodding and have them think a bit is my motto.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

It was all based off one of my best friends leaving a bottle of Rohto’s at my house, that’s all I needed to be inspired!

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Music is a healing thing and it can also be a teacher

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

The syllable play in this one was really hard for me personally.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I’ve been loving what Terror Reid has been doing lately. Either on production or rapping the guy is amazing.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

Hopefully to collaborate with more people, do some features, find new producers, etc.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Putting more and more music out there, for the foreseeable future. There’s a lot of talented people and i need to put myself out there more. I want to release a song a month at least.
