What’s the story behind your stage name?
dxrival has many different interpretations and that’s why I chose it. D stands for Derek, the X is symbolism for against, and rival in its sense stands for the world — full of obstacles, conflict, challenges and competition.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My sound is still experimental and improving. I had the opportunity to work with local artists in my area. Music has always been a big part of my life and how I express myself.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My mic kept cutting out so I had to do a mic test, for whatever reason I decided to do a Mr. Krabs voice. I kept it in the song as a hidden adlib.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Life doesn’t move unless you do. You cannot expect anything to go your way unless you strive for it

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I almost scrapped this song because I wasn’t liking how it sounded, but I prayed and kept recording until I got the one.
