Artist Introduction

What’s your name and where are you from?

My name is Dylan Naber and I’m from Los Angeles.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

I loved the name my parents gave me so I never saw a point of changing it just for music. With big names in music like Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Bryson Tiller, I always thought Dylan Naber was a good fit.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

From making fun diss tracks on my friends in high school to actually taking music serious all throughout college, I would say I have grown and matured not just as an artist but as a person as well. This is really apparent when you listen to my older music compared to my newest releases.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

A fun experience I had while making my new song Pressure was when I first initially recorded the first verse on the song. I was blasting it in my car to listen to it and someone passing by asked me what the song was so I told them it was my song and it wasn’t released yet. He liked the song so much he followed me so he can hear it when it drops. So even before I wrote the second verse I knew this song had a lot of potential.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I want to convey a message that you can really do anything in this life if you put your mind to it. You just have to be confident in yourself and what you do. There was a time in my life where I wasn’t so confident in my self. Looking back it makes me wonder what I could of accomplished already if I wasn’t so hard on myself. It’s my goal to make sure my fans never feel that way and I hope my music can help accomplish that.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

One challenge I faced during the production of pressure was debating whether or not to put a third verse on there. I wrote a third verse for the song but I just felt that it made the song too long. Who knows maybe if a big rapper wants to do a remix to it I’ll drop that verse.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

This is a really hard question to be honest as I have a lot of artists that I look up to. I would have to say Big Sean as I feel like we would be able to compliment each other well. He was one of my biggest inspirations in high school and whenever I had girl problems it’s funny to say that he would always be in my rotation. Even when I play him in the car sometimes my Dad will go, “Is that your new song?” and even when I say no he’ll be like “Are you sure because he kinda sounds like you?”.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

Hopefully some more shows for my fans. My last show that I had, I opened for Bia and Kamaiyah at California State University, Northridge’s Big Show but that was a year ago. So in the next year I can see my music giving me opportunities to open for bigger artists and more my songs getting traction.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

As an artist my next big step is to drop my mixtape I have been working on for the past year. My goal is to drop a couple more singles leading up to it and hopefully one of them blows up before the tape drops.
